About Us

Our Story

Gracious Dance began because we believe that movement is powerful. Self expression through movement and dance can be a constructive outlet for individuals of all ages and in all walks of life. We believe in providing the best dance education possible, in a nurturing, encouraging, noncompetitive environment.

Rebecca Phelps started Gracious Dance in 2019 as a way to share dance with her community. She has been teaching dance for over eight years in a variety of settings and wanted to create an environment to share her passion with people of all ages, abilities, and life experiences.

Rebecca Phelps, Founder and Instructor

Rebecca has danced all her life, and been teaching dance in the Rochester area for over eight years. She received a Bachelor’s Degree from SUNY Brockport in 2019 and has taken various trainings and workshops to continue her education. Rebecca has been trained in both trauma informed movement, as well as adaptive dance. She has her RYT 200 and is currently in the process of becoming a Internationally Certified Yoga Therapist. She intends to bring together her love of dance and movement and passion for helping others to create a studio that is supportive, encouraging, and empowering to students of all ages and abilities and in all walks of life.

She has found healing and empowerment through dance and yoga in her own life and wishes to share the incredible mental and physical strength dance can provide with others.
